How Much Do Banners Cost?

Most custom vinyl banners cost between $99 and $550. A small banner runs about $99, the popular 4′×8′ size is $224, and a large 4′×12′ lands at $336. Price is driven by total square footage — width times height in feet — and the rate per square foot drops as the banner gets bigger, so a banner twice the size never costs twice the price. Material weight, whether it prints on one side or two, and how fast you need it will move the number from there. Every one of those prices is single-sided 15 oz vinyl with reinforced hems all the way around and a grommet every two feet. Those finishing details are included in the price, not billed as extras — which is worth checking when you compare quotes, because plenty of shops quote a bare printed sheet and add hemming and grommets at the bottom of the estimate.

Why Bigger Banners Cost Less Per Square Foot

Banner pricing runs on a declining curve. Our rate starts at $8.00 per square foot on smaller banners and steps down to $7.00, then $5.50, then $4.50 as the size grows. The reason is that a big chunk of what you’re paying for has nothing to do with vinyl: file prep, proofing, order entry, quality check, and packing take about the same amount of work whether the banner is 12 square feet or 120. Spread that fixed effort across more material and the per-foot cost falls.

This has a practical consequence worth knowing before you order: going bigger is usually the better buy. Stepping from a 3′×6′ up to a 4′×8′ nearly doubles the banner but adds only $80. If you’re on the fence between two sizes, price the larger one before you decide — the upgrade is almost always cheaper than people expect.

It also means we hold a floor. We don’t sell banners under 12 square feet, so a 2′×3′, 2′×4′, and 3′×4′ all price at $99 — the same as our 2′×6′. If you ask for a small banner we’ll quote you the 2′×6′, because at that point you’re getting double the banner for the same money. And if what you actually need is smaller than about 6 square feet, a banner is the wrong product entirely — a coroplast yard sign will serve you better and cost less.

The 13 oz vs 15 oz Trap

This is the single biggest reason two banner quotes can look wildly different, and it’s the thing most price comparisons miss.

Banner vinyl is sold by weight, and the weight determines how long it survives outdoors:

• 13 oz — the budget standard. Rated roughly 1–2 years outdoors. This is what most online sellers and a lot of local shops quote by default, because it’s what makes the number look small.
• 15 oz — rated roughly 2–3 years outdoors. Noticeably heavier in the hand, holds color longer, and resists wind and grommet tear-out far better. This is our standard, not an upgrade.
• 18 oz blockout — the heaviest, with an opaque core that stops light and images showing through from behind. The right pick for double-sided banners and punishing installs.

Here’s why this matters more than the sticker price. If a 13 oz banner costs less but needs replacing after 18 months, and a 15 oz banner costs somewhat more but runs three years, the 15 oz banner is cheaper per year of use — and you only go through the hassle of ordering, proofing, and hanging it once.

What Else Changes the Price

Beyond size and material, four things move a banner quote:

• Double-sided doubles the price. You’re printing two banners’ worth of artwork onto a blockout material so neither side ghosts through. Worth it for a banner hung perpendicular to traffic where people approach from both directions; unnecessary against a wall.
• Mesh adds about 15%. Mesh is perforated so wind passes through instead of pushing against it. If your banner is going on a chain-link fence, a construction site, or any exposed spot that catches weather, mesh is the difference between a banner that lasts and one that tears loose in the first big storm.
• Pole pockets add about 10%. Instead of grommets, the top and bottom hem is sewn into a sleeve so a pole or pipe slides through. Standard for hanging banners between posts or for a clean look with no visible hardware.
• Rush turnaround. Standard production is already fast. Next-day adds 20%, and same-day doubles the price — call or text first so we can confirm we have the window before you count on it.

Does Banner Design Cost Extra?

Sometimes, and we’d rather tell you up front than bury it. If you send a print-ready file — correct size, high resolution, fonts outlined — there’s no design fee at all. If you send us your logo and tell us what it should say, we’ll build the layout for $75. A custom design from scratch is $150. Logo vectorization, if all you have is a low-resolution image, is $75.

Design is done in-house in Wilmington, and you approve a proof before anything goes to print. Nothing prints until you’ve seen it and signed off.

What About Really Big Banners?

Long banners are not a problem and they don’t carry a penalty. Our vinyl comes off a 16-foot-wide roll, which means a banner with either side at 16 feet or under prints on a single seamless panel at any length — a 4′×30′ is one continuous piece, and it prices right off the chart above at $550.

The exception is a banner that exceeds 16 feet in both directions. Beyond the roll on both sides, it has to be welded together from multiple panels, which puts a visible seam in it, and it ships folded by freight rather than rolled — meaning fold creases and several extra days. We quote those individually rather than off the chart, because freight is priced per job and guessing at it does nobody any favors.
